Brazilian soldiers stand ready for the return of a South American Banana spider to its web and nesting place. The arachnid is the world's largest, spinning webs out of eight-gauge braided cable and uses pulleys, anchors, and, in some cases, high voltage to capture its prey. The breed can reach weights up to one hundred pounds. The spider at this site had eaten two adults and a child in the span of two days and a vehicle and its occupant were missing from the area as well. (Associated Press)
