A giraffe foal tries to stand shortly after being born at Aalborg Zoo in northern Jutland, Denmark. After several failed attempts to do so, zookeepers decided to destroy the weakling animal "as it likely would have occurred in nature," an unnamed official stated. The Aalborg zoo has frequently come under fire from animal rights activists for emulating real life situations in captivity.
