Man-Dog Olympics A Success
By Cletus - Mon, Mar 08, 2010

Kiev, Ukraine (AP) - The second annual Man-Dog Olympics are being held in Kiev, Ukraine, this year; the events test the union between man and man's best friend to the limits.

Peter Dimitry, the game's coordinator, praised this year's turnout, "I would think I am very happy about this year's people turnout. More people come than I would have hoped for. It is great to see man and dog work together."

The 32-event contest features participants from more than 12 nations and a few provinces in Canada. Last year, 3 dogs were maimed during the javelin throw, but coordinators this year made regulations that all canines were to be chained during that event. So far, there have been no fatalities.

"This is my first year to the Man-Dog Olympics," states John Frank, from Ontario, "and I couldn't have been much happier. I've already won a gold for the Speed Dog Walk, thank god for those cold Canadian winters, eh?"

Pictured above is the Hurdles event that takes place over the period of a mile to signify a true police dog chase. Dimitry began adding themed events this year to try and bring in more nations. He hopes that more nations "get the point" and help celebrate the unspoken bond between man and dog.
